A Huge Selection of Bitless Bridles | Leather and Synthetic | New and Used Hackamore
Bridles | Mail Order Delivery
A bitless bridle is exactly that, a bridle without a bit. Control of the horse is achieved by
the application of pressure to the nose or poll or both rather than by the placement of a bit in the horse's mouth.
The term bitless bridle is a generic term describing all types of bridle that do not use a bit.
Bitless bridles have a variety of uses and are particularly helpful when training young horses
or, perhaps more commonly, when riding a horse that has suffered a previous injury to its mouth or is, for some
other reason, unwilling to accept a bit. Bitless bridles are particularly common in endurance riding but it is
important to note that they are not permitted in dressage competitions or showing.
The term 'Hackamore' is also used to describe a bitless bridle but, to be technically correct,
the Hackamore is merely a type of bitless bridle that relies upon the noseband to exert control upon the horse.
At its most basic, the bitless bridle is a simple rope halter, of course!
We offer a huge range of bitless bridles, both new and used, as well as leather and synthetic.
